Kibble, dry food / wet food 101

Disclaimer: It is important your pet consumes and intakes only what they NEED. What they don’t need will be harmful to the body if administered. Food impacts health significantly - for both HUMANS AND PETS.

What is a Kibble and Wet Food?

Kibble is another name for dry dog and cat food. It is made from ground up ingredients, including meat, grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, decomposed beings, and other uncertain materials ground up in a rendering plant. If you're feeding a grained dog kibble, it will use a grain as a binder that keeps the ingredients together while they're mixed.

How is Kibble/Dry Food made?

Dry pet foods are made from mixing dry and wet ingredients together, formed from animal derivatives. It is commonly used in a meal form (such as chicken meal, poultry by-product meal) where they are cooked, the fat is removed and the remaining material is dried to create a dry meal. Not appetizing - but still sold everywhere.

How is Wet food made?

Wet foods are made by mixing recipe ingredients together and cooking them within a hermetically sealed can, tray or pouch. The food in the container then remains sterile for the shelf life of the product or until opened. These products can be in the form of chunks in gravy, sauce or jelly, loaf or mousse.

Is Kibble ideal for my pet?

Well, would you want to eat the same thing everyday?
I didn’t think so.

Premade Raw Butchered vs. Commercial Raw food may be tricky to understand. But let’s dive into this because KNOWLEDGE = POWER.

Premade Raw made simply is the beginning of your pet's transitioning journey from the dry/wet food into a more biologically appropriate diet. UNCOOKED FOOD.

BUTCHERED Premade Raw food consists of bone and meat foundation from local farms and butcher shops. Their blends include add ons such as additional foods or vitamin supplements to fill nutritional gaps. Realize this option ensures your pet is getting a vital part of the nutrients they need by creating a powerful base for them to thrive on. A GREAT START with minimal ingredients monitored BY YOU, a trusty pet parent. This option requires preparation. Not time consuming.

COMMERCIAL Premade Raw made simply is an AAFCO approved balanced pet food with sourced meat and ingredients that is made to cater to each pet’s nutritional standard. This option ensures your pet gets essential nutritional ingredients to promote longevity with less time of preparation for the busy pet parents. You'll see when reaching for this food in your local pet store, it’s done for you when reading their package and ingredients list. You will still need to add on vitamins and other supplements to ensure your pet gets a full scale of nutrients.

RAW FOOD 101

Disclaimer: It is important your pet consumes and intakes only what they NEED. What they don’t need will be harmful to the body if administered. Food impacts health significantly - for both HUMANS AND PETS.

BARF = BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE RAW FOOD which is 70% muscle meat, 10% raw edible bone, 5% liver, 5% other secreting organs, 7% vegetables, 2% seeds or nuts, and 1% fruit.

THE MAJOR BREAKDOWN Of RAW = BARF DIET

So, raw food is not wet or dry food (from a bag or can). Not made in a factory, but sourced from trusted farms, markets, etc. Raw Food, like humans will promote your pets health according to their biological makeup. It is fresh, uncooked meat, bones, fruits, vegetables, and sometimes herbs, dairy, whole grains, minerals, and supplements. This method has not only healed animals, but also healed HUMANS with major medical issues such as CANCER, DIABETES, etc.

Can you feed Raw and Kibble? - YES.
That's the best way to TRANSITION your pet.

Even if you cannot feed 100% raw which takes dedication and commitment, you can start with a consistent change by adding any fresh foods, vitamins and other supplements. These are called “Boosters”, I say it’s a great start, but also a great median if you want to factor in convenience and your pet’s health. Eventually, it would be best to focus on what works for your pet, than what works easier for you.

We all know processed foods aren’t good, so to eat that our whole life, would show in not only our physical health but our behavior and mental health as well. This is the same case for our pets and the struggle with the pet food industry. This is the same dilemma in the pet food industry. Truthfully with raw feeding now an option, there is a greater hope for our pets to thrive than to struggle with terrible health.

Although, Kibble is convenient for you, it brings no real benefit for your pet to eat the same non-beneficial meal everyday. You can see a huge benefits with this choice of feeding in Dental Health , Shiny Coat, Less Bowel Movements and more consistent stool, More Energy, Less Allergies, Lean body mass, Excitement for meals (instantly), fewer toxins, less trips to your vet - THE LIST GOES ON.

NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCES

Nutritional deficiencies (lack of vitamins and nutrients) CAN happen easily with kibble/dry and wet dog and cat food. Hence, why a lot of pets get very sick very easily.

We are seeing that brands such as “science diet” “orijen” “blue buffalo” “taste of the wild” etc; aren’t doing the job because it has little to no nutrients as the food is “cooked” and packed with unbeneficial ingredients for mass kibble/wet food production. please Be mindful these food options are mostly for the convenience of the pet owner, not the pet.

If you are considering Premade Raw or RAW; You have a stupendous chance of allowing your pet to thrive on all they need while you monitor the ingredients, amount of food and more. These foods contain muscle meat, edible bone, secreting organs, fruits and vegetables. Be aware as these can lack ALA fatty acids, EPA/DHA fatty acids, iodine, manganese, vitamin E, vitamin D, and zinc. These nutrients can be fulfilled by adding specific whole foods or supplements to the ratio pre-made.
