"Become the Pawparent, Your Pet NEEDs you to be"

Founder & Certified Pet Food Specialist, Althea Thom.

Moxie, age 4. I love you, I miss you. Thank you for teaching me.

Meet Mako, 2 year old, Brown all around Mini Pincher I adopted my baby since April 2021; He has helped to improve my life and I want to improve his at all costs. He is on a Raw Diet, thriving with lots of exercise, and most importantly love all around him.

Hi! I’m Althea, your born and raised friendly New Yorker, Certified Pet Food Specialist (Yup, that was a lot to say haha). But I am here with an aim to educate pet lovers one pet parent at a time. I’ve been passionate about the animal community since the age of 5; but fashion has always been a passion as well.

At 21, I became Project Manager for multiple start up fashion projects; still in search of my “purpose” I had one foot in the fashion world and the other in the animal community. I remained terribly conflicted which lead to dark depressive days. You know how the “20’s” can be.

Unfortunately, July 5th, 2018, things grew darker as I watched my dog Moxie of 5 years old, die in the hands of high risk lymphoma (cancer) in a matter of 3 months. You may be thinking, “Oh well, she’s just a dog” - but no. She brought me through dark days no human would’ve been able to. I had lost my best friend, I had let her down by thinking I had done everything to keep her alive. It took her death for me to realize the cause of her death. Pet food is no different than Human food. The way it affects our pet’s bodies is the way food affects our bodies. Once you grow conscious of what’s going in your pet’s body - you are conditioning your mind to be receptive of healthy alternatives for your body. This mentality and emotional attachment can help any pet owner from going through the loss of a pet too soon. And you don’t need to be a doctor to discover this; Just a willing human with a love for life.

In April 2021, my foster dog chose me to love Him. I named him Mako, and we’ve been thriving ever since. I knew it was time to experience all that I’ve studied and to love again.

Remember: You don’t need to be a doctor to pay attention to what you and your pet consumes. As a pet parent, our pets rely on us to keep them alive; and we rely on them to aid us through the cycles of life. My motto, “If you can’t read it, don’t feed it”. I am here to ensure the pet food industry is held responsible for misleading pet parents as well as pet parents being responsible for their pet’s daily consumption. The Vet is not your pet’s savior; You are.”
